Peter Hickman moves into the top ten overall standings after an intense weekend of racing at Brands Hatch.
After a good performance in qualifying, Peter managed to secure an 11th place start on the grid. Delivering a fantastic start in the 20-lap race, Peter managed to take eighth place by the end of the first lap. Battling for position he moved down to tenth before regaining his eighth place by half distance. With his head down, he took Cooper for seventh and on the penultimate lap was promoted to sixth, adding another ten points to his championship.
After a good start in race two, Peter was forced wide and took a drop into 15th place. Knowing he had to deliver, he moved slowly through the pack, showcasing some stunning passes in the closing stages of the race. As the chequered flag dropped, he was rewarded with a tenth place. A few more points on the board and a positive feeling ahead of his travels to Suzuka for the final round of the FIM EWC with NRT48 BMW
Peter Hickman: ” Qualifying is a struggle for me at the moment. Every time I go fast the rest of the field go faster! I’m happy with two top ten finished today, especially with the sixth place in race one. Smiths BMW has done a great job with the bike, as usual, and have made some really positive changes which should help us deliver great results at Thruxton.”
Tonight, Peter will travel straight to Japan to take on the Suzuka8h. This will be his first time racing at the iconic race circuit. The race will be shown live on Eurosport, but prepare for an early start! Lights go green at 4am UK time.
